SUSSEX COUNTY REPRESENTATIVE
DESIREE HAZZARD is an alumnus of Delaware State University (DSU) receiving her Bachelor’s of Social Work in May 2010 and Master’s of Social
Work in May 2011. Ms. Hazzard is currently employed at Delaware Guidance Services as a community interventionist. During her graduate program, Ms. Hazzard served as a graduate assistant in the Department of Social Work.
She also served on the planning committee for the 4th Annual People of Color Mental Health Conference, as MSW Student Representative at the Social Work Department Advisory Meeting, and Mistress of Ceremony at the MSW Social Work Gala. She was a volunteer cheerleading coach at DSU and for the Milford School District, and the Youth Praise Dance Team Coordinator at John Wesley African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dover.
As a BSW student, Ms. Hazzard was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and presented her research report on the topic “A Relationship Between Depression and Living Facility Among Older Persons” at the Delaware State University Day of Excellence (April 2010); Health and Policy Conference (October 2009); and Ronald E. McNair Research Symposium. Ms. Hazzard is a member of the Delaware State University Toastmasters International Chapter.
