EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
JOHN A.SHUFORD, Executive Director of NASW, Delaware Chapter. Prior to this position,he was President of Conflict Resolution Services, which provided staff development trainings to government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses. He has led professional delegations to China, South Africa and Russia. He has also been a mental health therapist, health care administrator and established the most productive non-profit home health social work services department in North Carolina, where he chaired the committee that wrote the state’s Medicare guidelines for social work in home health.
John has been quite active as a volunteer. He established the Alternatives to Violence Project in Delaware in 1990, which has provided hundreds of cognitive restructuring three-day intensive workshops for inmates in Delaware’s prisons. It is one of the most, if not the most effective program in our prisons for changing attitudes of inmates. He is also on the Board of AVP/USA and is Co-chair of AVP/International.
John’s avocation is photography, which he calls Namaste Photography [the Light in Me Greets the Light in You].
